Immerse yourself in the culture of the 1,000+ Pacific islands that make up Polynesia. Watch as islanders reenact war dances, wield "fire knives" and more. Need to relax? Take in the afternoon canoe ride/pageant or an entertaining Hawaii IMAX™ film.

What better way to enjoy island life than to immerse yourself in the many cultures of the Pacific Islands at the 42-acre Polynesian Cultural Center? Stroll through a super-authentic complex of recreated villages in Aotearoa (New Zealand), ancient Hawaii, Tahiti, Fiji, Samoa, and Tonga. At each stop, you'll find hands-on activities and demonstrations showing cultural wonders like the art of fire dancing, climbing 50-foot trees in bare feet, spear-throwing, coconut-husking, and the Haka warrior dance!

Enjoy the regional culinary delights of Polynesian culture as you sample Tahitian coconut bread or “poi”, the staple Hawaiian food made out of taro. Explore some of the traditions of the different islands like lei-making, or try your skill at playing derua and making Fijian music.

Your pass to the Polynesian Cultural Center is good for general admission, which includes the villages and the Rainbows of Paradise canoe pageant, Hawaii’s only water-borne show. You'll learn about Polynesian voyaging and see a fully functional 57-foot double-hulled canoe at the Hawaiian Village’s exciting exhibit, Iosepa: Voyage of Discovery.

The last showing at the IMAX Theatre will be on Saturday, September 3, 2011. We are closing the Theatre starting on Monday, September 5, 2011 for renovations.

Driving Directions

Exit right from the H-1 freeway onto the H-3 freeway and enjoy the spectacular drive through the Koolau Mountains. Take the Kaneohe exit on the right, which momentarily puts you on the Likelike Highway (#63). Take the first right exit onto the Kahekili Highway, which soon turns into the Kamehameha Highway (#83). Follow the highway all the way to Laie.

Public Transportation

Taking TheBus is another good way to get to the cultural center. Check their website for directions and scheduling information.

Also included with your admission pass is the tram tour of nearby Brigham Young University-Hawaii and the Laie Hawaii Temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. The Polynesian Cultural Center is run by BYU-Hawaii, and the tram tour includes exhibits explaining the history and beliefs of the LDS church.

Ticket upgrades are available for an additional $75 if you'd like to stay for the award-winning Alii luau and the evening show, "Ha: Breath of Life," with a cast of more than 100 performers from across the Pacific. Please call in advance to make a reservation as they cannot be made on-site.

The luau is one of the best on the island, and includes a traditional flower lei greeting, reserved seating, and an all-you-can-eat buffet with authentic Hawaiian food. The PCC's "Ambassador of Aloha" emcee will explain the imu ceremony where the roasted pig is lifted from its cooking pit, and also introduces an evening full of Hawaiian music, entertainment, and hula. Please note that there is no alcohol served or allowed on the premises at the Polynesian Cultural Center. The luau ends around 6:30 pm, followed by "Ha: Breath of Life" at 7:30 pm.

The Polynesian Cultural Center allows visitors to learn about the different facets of Polynesian culture through hands-on activities and visiting the inhabitants of the different villages. The park is divided into six different villages representing islands of Polynesia and their customs: the Aotearoa (New Zealand), the Hawaiian Village, the Tahitian Village, the Fijian Village, the Samoan Village, and the Tongan Village. Each of the villages allows visitors to experience cultural practices of that particular island. Some of the activities include fire pit cooking, coconut husking, learning the haka dance, a fire starting seminar, tree climbing lessons, tattoo-drawing, and fire knife dancing.

Great value, a birds eye view of all the Pacific Islands and Islanders. Like a theme park, very entertaining. Every place had lots of activities for all age groups, teaching hula, ukelele, spear throwing etc. The Luau had fabulous food, and the dinner show was fantastic. The nightly show was out of this world- it was fantastically well done and a definite must see.Dont miss this one!!!

This was a wonderful experience. Go ahead and spring for the Super Ambassador Tour, it is worth it. It is a little strange how much they talk about the Mormon Church at the PCC, but if you just let that go, the park is good, the show HA is like a Polynesian version of the Circle of Life, and very well done. The fire dancing is exceptional. The Theatre is outdoors, and the seats are small, but you don't notice once the show starts.

We got there at 5:30 and only got to do the Canal pole boat tour and see the Movie- all the village demonstrations had already closed for the day so get there early!
