NBC Studio Tour

After congregating in the NBC Experience Store at the GE Building in Rockefeller Plaza, an NBC page will lead you on a 70-minute walking tour that begins in the NBC Sharp HDTV Theater, where you will learn about the early radio history of NBC. You will also pay a visit to the Broadcast Operations Center, and then have the chance to walk through various legendary studios of NBC’s New York operations. Make a mental note of your guide’s name, because many of these same pages have worked their way through the ranks to later become NBC superstars, to include Regis Philbin, Willard Scott, Ted Koppel, and Marcy Carsey! Later, Meredith Vieira and Matt Lauer will guide you (via video) through an in-depth history of NBC, giving inside information about the studio’s past life and present state.

Keep your eyes peeled as you walk…many people report seeing celebrities in unexpected places along their tour! Among the other high points of the NBC Studio Tour is that several visitors will have the opportunity to read a mock weather report or newscast on a real NBC set. You will also get to check out the makeup room where stars spend hours preparing to go on set, and where those ludicrous SNL costume-changes take place!

The NBC Studio Tour departs every 15 minutes, and is a great stop for anyone who is a fan of Saturday Night Live, The Today Show, The Dr. Oz Show, The Late Show with Jimmy Fallon, NBC Nightly News with Brian Williams, or any of the other programs filmed here. It’s also a fantastic way to learn about “the Peacock Network”, America’s first major broadcast network!
